The Video Center is an award-winning video production facility, which also operates Municipal Channel 10 and Fire Training Channel 650. Since its inception under a FEMA-mitigation wildfire grant in 1996, the Center is designed to cross-reference its digital video footage, edit masters, and graphics to streamline its productions for cost-saving measures.
The first production focused exclusively on the serious issue of wildfires impacting South Central Alaska, along with several public service announcements (PSAs) on wildfire preparedness. Since then, numerous instructional, educational and informational videos have been produced not only for the Anchorage Fire Department, but various Municipal departments. The Center has been honored in the video production industry with Tellys, CINEs, to name a few.
